We were looking for a general contractor to do an addition on our 150 year old house, and asked Blodgettʼs Door and Sash folks in Lebanon, NH, for a recommendation. Without hesitation, they recommended Josh Boynton, of Boynton Construction, Inc.
Our project required: excavators to hold up a portion of the house, remove the old dry stone basement, and then pour a new full foundation. The 16ʼ X 30ʼ three-story addition included: an extension of the new basement, with 3ʼ X5ʼ sliding windows, a first floor sun room with 13 double-hung windows and double French doors connecting it to the original part of the house, and a 2nd floor bedroom and bathroom suite with two 8ʼ-wide dormers. Other features of our project included: burying of all electric, cable, and phone lines, a stone fireplace and stone chimney for a wood-stove, an extensive stair railing system, and a root cellar. Because this addition was attached to an existing building built in 1860, the floors and roof had to be leveled and the transition between the old and new parts of the house had to match flooring, walls, and roof line. The project involved a number of challenges and a good deal of problem solving.
Throughout the entire project, Josh was on the job, open to new ideas, ready to tackle new and unexpected challenges, and always in good humor. He coordinated 9 subcontractors, kept the project moving at a rapid pace, and always accommodated us with our new requests and specific due dates. The quality of Joshʼs work was outstanding and he was insistent that the subcontractors also provide quality work. We are very pleased with Joshʼs work and highly recommend him to others. It was a pleasure to work with Josh and his crew.
